Plants react to sunlight. They do this, amongst other things, by opening gaps on the underside of the leaf, which are called stomata.
The Professors Rogalla and Krönke tested whether these gaps are also opened if the plants are left in the dark, and treated only with virtual sunlight by QUANTEC.
To do this, the information on sunlight was “sent” to the plants by QUANTEC from a neighbouring room.
The result:
and this is how they opened, although it was still dark, simply by treatment with QUANTEC. The plants reacted to the virtual sunlight as if they were not in the dark, but as if they had been exposed to direct sunlight.
